When thinking about how to most effectively create my resume, business card, and letterhead I had one specific goal in mind, cohesion. I wanted three professional products that each served their own purpose, yet could be easily linked to one another. The cohesion of these products would not only display my understanding of visual design, but also demonstrate an effective, professional example of creative design. I felt there were three specific ways to best accomplish this: use of typography, color, and alignment.

The first and foremost point I focused on with these three products was typography. I wanted a type that was both legible and professional. After searching for a while I decide on the old style font, Garamond, as an ideal typography to serve both of these purposes. It is a type that is not only easy to read but also has a strong sense of sophistication. It was also a type I believed would be well applied to all three of the products I was creating. As for the size of font in each product, I felt I chose a size of type that was best suited for each product, but still kept the cohesion of all the items.

The second point I focused on was the use of color in the logo throughout all of my designs. I felt that blue and orange were two colors that well represented myself, and black really emphasized or brought out these two colors. Additionally, the fact that blue and orange are complementary colors made them all that more appealing. The contrast of the two colors and the emphasis of the black really attracts the eye of whoever is reviewing these products, and ads a certain amount of depth to the design.

The final aspect I focused on when creating my resume, business card, and letterhead was alignment. For me, this was an especially important aspect because I find the way in which pieces of a design are presented to be vital. I often believe the alignment of a design to be the most attractive and creative part of a design. With my products, I decided to align mostly everything to left side of the page. I feel this gives the design a much more interesting and aesthetically pleasing look, as apposed the generically being aligned center. When it came to aligning left over right, it was just a matter of personal preference. I am more satisfied with text aligned to the left. Furthermore, I felt the alignment of the pieces of the design opened up a lot of valuable white space throughout my products.

Overall, I felt I did a great job of executing my goal of cohesion while delivering a creative, yet sophisticated set of products.

Displayed below are my Resume, Business Card, and Letterhead. (NOTE: ALIGNMENT AND SPACING ARE OFF, AND PIECES TO EACH DESIGN ARE MISSING DUE TO TRANSLATION FROM MICROSOFT WORD.)
